How educators can make the most of their Atomi trial

For educators trialling Atomi, the goal isn’t to transform your entire teaching practice in a few short weeks. In fact, we know that’s virtually impossible.
Instead, our goal is to help your team see the possibilities of Atomi by proving value and building the foundation for long-term success. Whether you’re trialling Atomi across a single department or school-wide, your trial is the moment to gather momentum and set the tone for what’s possible.
To help you make the most of your trial, we spoke to MD Pathak from Atomi’s Growth Team to help you understand how to successfully introduce Atomi to your students and build a meaningful case for change in your school.
Getting started with Atomi
Once your trial is confirmed, our team at Atomi will work with your school to import class lists and create teacher and student accounts. Everyone receives an activation email, and according to MD, this is where the success story begins.
We know the schools that succeed in trials are the ones that start strong. With school-wide announcements, it’s easier to encourage staff and students to activate their accounts early and start engaging with the platform as soon as possible.
From day one, there are a few practical steps your school can take to ensure a smooth setup:
- Make a school-wide announcement. Share a heads-up in your next staff meeting or school assembly to ensure everyone knows what Atomi is and when the trial begins.
- Encourage students to check their inboxes for their activation emails to boost platform usage from the get-go of your trial period.
- Use the student onboarding videos available on Atomi to help students get started - these can be played in classrooms or library sessions.
- Schedule an Atomi staff training session to ensure teachers understand how to use the platform from day one.
Introducing Atomi to your students
While Atomi is intuitive, students benefit from clear guidance on how to use it meaningfully.
“Encourage teachers to frame Atomi not just as a resource but as a strategy,” says MD. “It’s there to help students revise smarter, build independence, and reduce stress.”
When it comes to getting students up to speed on the platform, there are a few quick wins you can use to boost student engagement:
- Play the onboarding videos in class or during library sessions to introduce Atomi visually.
- Use Atomi videos to start or summarise a lesson - this gives students context and confidence
- Set clear expectations and let students know their time on Atomi counts. Encourage them to explore independently and revisit past concepts.
- Remind them the trial is time-limited - they should take full advantage of access while it lasts.
6 smart ways to get the most out of your trial
During a six to eight-week trial, it’s unlikely you’ll see a sudden spike in a student’s academic performance. But you can demonstrate meaningful wins in efficiency, engagement, and teaching support.
Here are the top ways MD recommends educators use Atomi during their trial:
1. Use video lessons as starters, reviews, or homework
Atomi’s short, targeted videos (typically four to eight minutes) are built for maximum impact. If you’re looking for an easy way to start incorporating Atomi into your lesson plans, why not add a video at the beginning of a new topic to orientate students and set up what’s to come?
In more specific terms, Atomi’s videos are great as:
- A lesson hook: Play a video to introduce a topic.
- A revision tool: Recap key concepts at the end of a lesson.
- A homework task: Assign videos so students can preview or reinforce new ideas.
You can use a video to replace a 10-minute explanation and jump straight into active learning. It’s a huge time-saver.
2. Assign quizzes to check understanding
As an educator, you’ll often spend hours writing and marking practice questions. But imagine if you had a library of interactive quizzes ready to go and assign in just a few clicks?
With Atomi:
- You can assign quizzes linked to each topic in seconds.
- Use quizzes as exit tickets, revision checks, or pre-assessment tools.
- Ensure students get instant feedback, and you get real-time data on their progress.
The best bit? With Mark Book you can easily track performance, assess students’ level of understanding and assign follow-up revision resources.
Teachers don’t need to prepare fresh revision materials every week - they can assign a quiz and get immediate insight.
3. Encourage independent learning
Atomi is great for whole-class instruction, but it’s equally as powerful as an independent learning tool. With Atomi, you can empower students to:
- Revisit tricky topics on their own.
- Explore lessons beyond what’s being taught in class.
- Use the Markbook to track their own progress and set goals.
This builds metacognitive skills and shifts some of the learning ownership from teacher to student.
“It’s all about showing learners how Atomi can make homework and at-home revision easier and more enjoyable to build student agency,” MD says.
4. Use differentiation tools to support all learners
You know that differentiated instructions can be one of the hardest things to implement as an educator. That’s why we’ve made it a key focus for the Atomi platform, allowing you to easily build custom lesson and revision plans for students based on their unique needs and learning style.
For example, our progress reports make it easy for teachers to asses how students are performing within a lesson, including which students are on track and which students might need more support.
Best of all, these reports are actionable. Teachers can group together high–performing students who are excelling and assign them acceleration tasks within just a few clicks, making it easy to differentiate based on how students are performing.
Have a Year 9 student struggling with foundational skills? Atomi also makes cross-year content access easy, allowing you to bring learners up to speed on the basics before progressing into more complex material.
“A teacher can pull in Year 7 material for a Year 9 student who needs to brush up on the basics - and they can do it in seconds,” explains MD.
This makes it possible to support mixed-ability classrooms without recreating resources.
5. Leverage the revision generator for Year 11-12
For senior students, revision prep can be a burden on teachers. With custom revision sessions in Atomi, teachers can:
- Create curated revision sets in minutes.
- Build tasks using past exam questions.
- Save hours usually spent combing through papers.
It’s one of the most underutilised tools in a trial, but the time-saving is massive.
6. Plan ahead and incorporate Atomi strategically
When planning for the term ahead, there are plenty of ways to add Atomi into your lessons.
There are quick wins, like using Atomi’s videos as a way to introduce new topics to students and make the learning intentions of the topic really clear.
From setting Atomi lessons as homework to assigning tasks tailored to the needs of each student, teachers can start saving significant time every single week by incorporating Atomi into their lesson plans — even from the very first term.
Plus, Atomi can be used throughout the term as a way to quickly test for understanding and assess how well students are grasping new concepts. With instant feedback, learners can easily understand their strengths and weaknesses to focus their revision time, too.
Gathering feedback and tracking the value of Atomi
The goal of a trial is to gather evidence - qualitative and quantitative - that Atomi can work for your school. But what should you look for?
Use data from Atomi’s insights dashboard:
- Number of questions answered
- Lessons completed
- Time spent on the platform
These indicators give a tangible picture of student engagement.
“For some schools, usage is the key success metric. Others look at how Atomi fits into pedagogy or teacher workload,” MD explains.
Anecdotal feedback matters, too:
- What did teachers enjoy using?
- How did students respond?
- Did anyone save time or reduce stress?
At the end of the trial, your Atomi team will meet with you to review the data and feedback, align on the next steps, and discuss moving forward with a full partnership.
Setting realistic expectations for trial success
An Atomi trial won’t radically improve student outcomes in six weeks, but it will show:
- If students find the platform engaging
- If teachers can easily integrate it into their planning
- If the platform supports your school’s broader teaching and learning strategy
Trials are about small wins and proof of value. Our goal is to work with you to show how Atomi can support your teachers to deliver the best learning experiences possible.
Ready to see what’s possible?
Whether you're looking to ease teacher workload, empower independent learners, or explore targeted revision strategies, an Atomi trial is your chance to explore the platform’s potential - on your terms.
